Design Persona

I am Emma Bradley and I am from South Taranaki. I have lived on a dairy farm all of my life and I am the oldest of five children. Moving to the city has been a fairly daunting, however very exciting new experience. This year I am living at Joan Stevens Hall, and studying a Bachelor of Design Innovation, Majoring in Industrial Design along with a minor in Marketing.

I have come to Design School because design has always been something that I have enjoyed, ever since I was a little girl making houses out of shoe boxes. Design has always appealed to me because it is more hands-on and practical subject. Throughout all of my years at high school my favourite subject was graphics, this has taught me the basics of design principles and the design process, and I would like to further my education in this field.

My inspirations at this point have come from previous work and research that I have done at high school. One of the most significant units which interested me was the Bauhaus, the overall simplicity of their work appealed to me by their use of colours, materials and shapes. I am looking forward to investigating more designers and individuals, which I am sure will provide me with exciting new inspiration.

In the future I firstly aspire to complete my Bachelor of Design Innovation. With this I intend on pursuing a career in the industry doing something that I love and am skilled at. I am looking forward to the opportunities that will become available to me from this course. I want to be involved in the design of everyday products to develop them to assist people the best way possible. I feel that design is an essential part of life as it can be found everywhere.
